The Media Research Center has begun another revolution in media analysis. Bias by the Minute™ is an innovative tracking system that analyzes the time the media gives to the various issues and stories of the day.

The MRC May analysis proves the liberal TV news has been protecting Obama from ISIS setbacks and policy failures, and has barely paid attention to critics that covered the administration’s involvement in the war against ISIS.

Coverage of ISIS more than DOUBLED from April to May, increasing from 40 minutes of air time in April to 84.5 minutes in the month of May. With such increased emphasis on the threat of ISIS, what role does our Commander in Chief play in this situation? How much time was our President featured in the news media, discussing ISIS policy decisions (and their subsequent ramifications)?

The MRC gives you the truth: President Obama’s handling of the situation was mentioned for just 43 seconds – less than one percent of the total reporting in the month of May.

Even more disheartening in our national media coverage – there was not a single mention of Obama during ISIS coverage from either CBS or ABC. It would seem from this analysis that our President is not involved in the escalating war against ISIS. For the most part, the networks suggested criticism on the war on ISIS lay with the military and not with the Commander-in-Chief who established the policy itself.

The broadcast networks are not hiding the news on ISIS, but they are helpfully insulating President Obama from the consequences of his policy decisions. This is a direct example of bias by omission or censorship that has now been unmistakably exposed by the MRC with our innovative Bias by the Minute™ program.
