Bozell Denounces Journalists Who Praised New York Daily News Cover

Media Assault on Faith Fans the Fires of Radical Islamic Terrorism in US

RESTON, VA – This morning, the New York Daily News published an offensive cover mocking GOP presidential candidates, the Speaker of the House and people of faith for turning to prayer after the terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California.

Instead of denouncing this anti-religious bigotry, many in the news media have subsequently touted and praised the disgusting headline, “God Isn’t Fixing This,” belittling prayer as a response to tragedy.

Media Research Center (MRC) President Brent Bozell reacts:

“It wasn’t enough that the New York Daily News saw no issue with publishing such an offensive cover in the aftermath of the horrific events in San Bernardino. Now, their colleagues at NBC, CBS, CNN and elsewhere are praising this garbage.

“The leftists 'news' media have unapologetically adopted the left’s anti-Second Amendment, anti-faith agenda and it has been on full display since this horrific attack. America is under attack and they want us disarmed. America offers prayerful comfort to the victims and the media ridicule it.

The news media’s solutions are as ridiculous as their values are repulsive.”

NBC, CBS, and CNN praise New York Daily News cover:

Last night, CNN’s Don Lemon approvingly displayed it — twice — on-screen during a segment with Dan Gross, a spokesman for the Brady campaign, who unsurprisingly agreed with the sentiment: “Religion doesn’t need to be part of this conversation.”

This morning on Today, NBC’s Andrea Mitchell featured it in her story about the push for gun control, suggesting it was an appropriate rebuke to conservatives: “Republicans opposed to new gun laws offered prayers and praise for police....Only hours after the shooting, Ted Cruz even invited supporters to a Second Amendment event at an Iowa shooting range, tomorrow. All the talk of prayer prompted an angry tabloid headline in today’s New York Daily News: ‘God isn’t fixing this.’”

Over on CBS This Morning, co-anchor Gayle King enthused: “I thought that headline was very powerful.” Later in the same show, co-anchor Charlie Rose agreed: “Everybody is asking why and everybody is asking what can we do, but we have to do something. As the New York Daily News said, God is not going to fix it. We have to fix it.”
