From Charles Isherwood's Friday review [1]of the Manhattan production of the Vietnam play "2 September":

"As she wryly tells us, [journalist Josephine] Herbst was a journalist and novelist whose work has mostly gone out of print, as have her proudly socialist values. 'You wouldn't necessarily have heard of me,' she offhandedly confesses, 'unless you are interested in what used to be called "the left." I mean the "old left." Remember that?'"
