Teaching religion in a public school? It’s enough to give your garden-variety liberal the vapors. Or maybe it just depends on which religion. As one mother in Union County, North Carolina found out, Islam seems to be an acceptable topic.
The mother, whose name was never given on the show, appeared on the November 13 segment of “Fox & Friends” to voice her outrage and show some of the answers to her high school daughter’s homework assignment.
The assignment was a fill in the blanks style worksheet on the Islamic faith. The question “Fox & Friends” highlighted, and the one the mother was most angered by asked, “Most Muslims’ _ _ _ Than the Average Christian’s.” The correct response to that question read, “Most Muslims’ Faith Is Stronger Than the Average Christian’s.” according to the mom, “My child had to fill in Faith is Stronger, that’s not a fact. It isn’t some kind of … scientific fact they’re teaching my child. This is opinion!”
The school never warned the parents that it would be teaching Islam, especially not in such a biased way; as a fact rather than a general overview of it as one of many world religions.
Other controversial questions on the assignment under the heading of “Peaceful Islam vs. Radical Fundamentalist Islam” include the following (answers in bold):
- “Islam, at heart is a peaceful religion.” (Sounds like President Obama on ISIS, doesn’t it?)
- “These fundamentalists represent a small percentage of the population of Islam, so we must be careful not to label or assume” (Even if so-called moderate Muslims do nothing to resist their fundamentalist brethren.)
- “Jihad: a holy war waged on behalf of Islam as a religious duty; a personal struggle in devotion to Islam especially involving spiritual discipline.” (Jihad in Arabic [1] means “struggle” or “resisting.” However, when tied to “holy war,” it becomes controversial even in the Muslim world. According to the Dictionary of Islam[3] [2] and Islamic historian Bernard Lewis [3], in the large majority of cases jihad has a military meaning … the concept of jihad will always include armed struggle against wrong doers.”)
- “Nowhere in the Quran does it say you will go to paradise if you martyr yourself with a suicide bomb” (True. It never explicitly says “suicide bomb.” What it does say is that if you martyr yourself in a holy war against the infidels you will go to paradise and receive the 70 virgins.)
The list goes on. The worksheet was two full pages and the last question is too blurry to make out in its entirety but the words “So as to avoid political brainwashing … and avoid racial profiling,” can be made out clearly. Ironic isn’t it, since that is what the curriculum is doing in showing only one side of the argument and highlighting only the “positives” of so-called “peaceful” Islam as fact?
“I have chosen in my home,” the North Carolina mother continued in her interview, “Not to teach my child these things. I don’t feel it’s the school’s right.” It is not, which is why Fox noted, at the end of the interview, that “The school district in North Carolina has not commented.”
The North Carolina mother is not alone in dealing with an educational system that indoctrinates their children on Islam without issuing a warning to or getting parental consent. It has been an ongoing problem for several years in schools across America. The indoctrination of and “Introduction to” Islam has begun being taught as early as first grade.
This video [4], published on October 7, 2014 shows Paul Begley breaking down a homework assignment of a first grade child at a public school in Mississippi who had to draw a Quran, a mosque, and imam and the Islamic crescent moon. The goal of that first grade class is to teach them about Islam and help them understand it enough to write a pamphlet on the Muslim faith for the third grade class. Begley noted in his video that there are no classes on “Introducing Christianity” at the elementary school. He pointed out also that while the assignment has kids drawing a Quran you better not draw a Bible or bring one to school with you.
A high-school in Maryland went so far as to ban a father [5] – a U.S. Marine – from his daughter’s school property after he merely requested that his daughter an alternate class because he did not want her to “examine elements of the Islamic religion” in her world history class.
A middle school in Revere Massachusetts gave out a handout on the Islamic call to prayer, according to an October 27 article on Huffington Post [6], “Part of the call to prayer states, "I bear witness that there is no God but Allah."’ A Christian father found out and pulled his son out of that history class because, once again, he didn’t want his son learning about Islam from the public school system. This school also threatened the son with an incomplete or failing grade as a result of being pulled.
There are so many more similar stories and examples which depict just how prevalent the Islamization of America [7] is. Islamic indoctrination in our public schools is on the rise and there’s no one to blame but the Obama administration, which, in 2013 mandated that the “Introducing Islam” curriculum be taught in American schools as part of a “balanced” curriculum teaching more than just one view. Schools are doing that alright. A June 2013 article on Breitbart titled, “One Nation Under Allah”: The Islamization of American Public Schools” [8] warns Americans that it is our taxpayer dollars going to teaching kids about Islam with a bias towards the Muslim religion, and it is definitely biased.
Across the United States from first grade through high schools and colleges “school [9] curricula bash Judaism and Christianity and present Islam in an uncritically positive light [10], without a single word [11] about Islam’s 1,400-year history of jihadi wars, land appropriations, cultural annihilation, and enslavement,” wrote Pamela Gellar on Breitbart. They do it under the radar in what has been called “Stealth Curriculum” and by the time concerned parents and other conservative or religious groups find out, the indoctrination has already begun without warning and the right is usually left without tools to fight it. We can hardly say “The Pledge of Allegiance” in schools anymore because of “political correctness,” we wouldn’t want the words, “One Nation Under God” to offend anyone…yet a public school in Colorado allows students to say the pledge in Arabic in which the aforementioned offensive line becomes, “One Nation Under Allah.” Does that sound wrong to anyone else?
