Maria Bartiromo Premiers on FBN

CNBC Alumnus now hosts ‘Opening Bell with Maria Bartiromo.’

“Opening Bell with Maria Bartiromo,” hosted by the former CNBC host, premiered Feb. 24, on Fox Business Network. According to Business Insider [1], part of the appeal for Fox News to hire Bartiromo was her ability to “book big-name guests,” which would increase the amount of exclusive content on the cable network.

Bartiromo’s guests on first FBN show included bank analyst Dick Bove, Dallas Fed President Richard Fisher, Gamco CEO Mario Gabelli, CEO of Nissan Renault Carlos Ghosn and House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor.

True to form, Bartiromo started off began with an exclusive story. This one was on how Prince Alwaleed, a Saudi Arabian businessman, will be investing in Square, a mobile payments company created by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey.

While she was at CNBC, Bartiromo hosted “Closing Bell.” She began working at CNBC in August 1993.
