Rand Paul has started his run for President in 2016, challenging the Democrats false “war on women” mantra that followed the GOP during the 2012 election.
At the Susan B. Anthony List Summit April 16, Paul called out the media for not questioning Clinton and other Democrats on their abortion views, like they do with GOP candidates. In particular, he called out the media for not reporting on Hillary Clinton’s financial ties with countries with anti-women policies.
Although Clinton has projected herself as a women’s rights candidate, her money trail proves otherwise, Paul asserted, and it remains to be seen whether or not the media will question her for it.
Saudi Arabia and Brunei are two places which the Clinton Foundation receives money from, and which treat women as less-than-human. Paul cited a case in Saudi Arabia where a woman was arrested and beaten with 90 lashes for being gang-raped. In Brunei, it is common for women accused of adultery to be stoned to death, Paul said. Even if falsely accused, she has no say in the matter, Paul explained.
Yet Clinton still takes money from these countries saying, “‘she’s going to do good things with it,’” Paul stated, incredulous.
She’s not alone, Paul explained. He faced a losing battle in Congress, when he received only two votes for proposing to end aid to countries that persecute women and Christians.
“They say, ‘Well we’re just giving the money to the moderates! This is how we influence the moderates. And I say, ‘Well, it doesn’t appear to be working.’” Paul stated.
The media is complicit in promoting Democrats as the party for women, because they never ask Democrats about these issues. “You ever hear them ask any questions at Hillary Clinton about this money she’s getting, whether it influences her decision[s]?”
“There’s going to be stuff coming out about the Clinton Foundation and their donations from different companies that get special approval by the Secretary of State” in the next couple of weeks, Paul stated. “Are we going to hear any questions from the media or will it be a lovefest to Hillary Clinton?” he asked.
