As USA Today put it the top of the 'cover story' for the 'Money' section: 'Spending cuts could further weaken economy.'
Echoing that theme, from the Washington Post's front page: 'Deal risks undermining fragile growth [1]'
On page 2 of the August 2 Wall Street Journal: 'Deal Seen as Mild Drag on Economy [2]'
And, from a Los Angeles Times front page plug for an interior article: 'Deal offers little to boost economy'
Inside, that story carried this headline (at least online): 'Debt ceiling deal casts a bleak light on the future [3]'
Online, USA Today changed the print edition's 'Spending cuts could further weaken economy,' to : 'Spending cuts could face headwinds this year: a weak economy [4].'
