In a fawning report on Tuesday's NBC Today, national investigative correspondent Michael Isikoff touted the exploits of two left-wing activists who stole a thousand FBI documents in 1971 and just confessed to the crime: "In an exclusive NBC News interview, the burglars, anti-Vietnam War activists, admit they committed the crime to expose what they believed were illegal activities by the FBI." CNN Blames the Victim in Data Theft

Crime victims can’t catch a break. “American Morning” anchor Soledad O’Brien accused TJX Cos., the parent of T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, of dishonesty in the March 30 broadcast after the company had suffered a massive data theft.

“None of these companies are ever forthcoming about it,” O’Brien declared, blasting not just TJX but many others. “You always have to uncover it, investigate it, dig and dig and dig and then eventually they come up with a number which is probably a little on the low side.”

CNN Ignores Labor Union Source of Wal-Mart Shoplifting Story

CNN business contributor Andy Serwer reported on a curious policy change at Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT) stores: they’re giving first-time shoplifters a break for inexpensive merchandise. The story was not meant to be publicly announced and could cause an up-tick in shoplifting at the stores. Yet Serwer left out that The New York Times broke the story after being handed internal documents from an anti-Wal-Mart group funded by labor unions.
