Despite the 2012 announcement that July 2012 was the hottest month on record, meteorologist Anthony Watts noticed that the government secretly backtracked on the data.

Watts pointed out that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reinstated July 1936 as the warmest month “as if by magic.”

NOAA Scientist Disagrees with Networks’ Claim of ‘Historic’ California Drought

ABC, CBS and NBC worry over ‘worst drought on record,’ fail to mention California’s last severe drought.

This winter the networks have seized on all sorts of extreme weather, making it appear new, exciting or unusual. In the case of the California drought the broadcast networks have been hot and bothered claiming it is “historic.”

ABC, CBS and NBC evening news shows hyped the California drought, describing it as unprecedented and the “worst drought on record.” But Dr. Martin Hoerling, a federal climate researcher, disagrees with that assessment. He said that the drought was consistent with previous California droughts.

Although many scientists say no, ABC, CBS and NBC continue to link weather events like tornadoes, hurricanes, heat waves and more to climate change nearly one-fourth of the time.

ABC, NBC Claim Link between Iowa Floods and Global Warming

It was only a matter of time until the mainstream media began ramping up global warming alarmism by connecting flooding in the Midwest to climate change.

ABC’s “World News with Charles Gibson” took a page out of the alarmists’ playbook – connecting natural disasters to global warming, which according to the broadcast is caused by mankind’s use of fossil fuels. The segment, which led off the network’s June 19 broadcast, cited a government report that stated there’s definitive evidence such a link exists.

Don’t expect to hear this reported on the your evening newscast, but according to new data, sea ice levels in the Southern Hemisphere are at 25-year highs.

“On a global basis, world sea ice in April 2008 reached levels that were ‘unprecedented’ for the month of April in over 25 years,” Steve McIntyre wrote on Climateaudit.org on May 4. “Levels are the third highest (for April) since the commencement of records in 1979, exceeded only by levels in 1979 and 1982.”

From a 72-degree January day in Manhattan to “polar bears in peril,” the media have done anything but chill about the weather lately.

“Never has good weather felt so bad. Never have flowers inspired so much fear. Never has the warm caress of a sunbeam seemed so ominous. The weather is sublime, it’s glorious, it’s the end of the world,” wrote Joel Achenbach on the January 7 Washington Post Style section front.

He’s been the face of hurricane forecasting for decades to TV viewers at home and storm-obsessed broadcast journalists, so it’s not surprising that NBC and CNN honored NOAA’s Max Mayfield with positive stories on his retirement. Yet in doing so, neither network mentioned that Mayfield didn’t buy the theory that global warming caused the strong hurricane season that produced Katrina.

On the January 3 “Nightly News,” NBC anchor Brian Williams praised Mayfield as “the person we all watch very closely when the big storms approach.”
