A couple definitions from the media’s unofficial abortion lexicon:

Baby (n) any infant, pre- or postnatal, whose existence is welcome and not seen as “punishment” for the mother. Often used to gush over celebrity offspring. Example: “The world is impatiently waiting for the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, to give birth the baby that will be heir to the British throne.”

Sonograms have the ability to “change lives,” according to The Huffington Post. Apparently, they also can change agendas.

In a post Sunday by Jon Summers at HuffPo Gay Voices, Summers shared the joy of seeing his adopted son’s face on the sonogram of the 17-year-old girl who had decided to give her child to Summers and his fellow gay partner.

Darlene Haynes was only 23 years old when another woman brutally slashed her open and removed her eight-month-old baby girl from her womb. Her decomposing body was found July 27 wrapped in a blanket and dumped in a closet inside her apartment in Worcester, Massachusetts. The body was so mutilated that when they found it, the police said they couldn't immediately determine its gender.

The Dear Abby column, founded by Pauline Phillips in 1956 and now written by her daughter Jeanne, has a reputation for prescribing sensible advice for many of life's dilemmas, both big and small. Readers generally assume Abby can be trusted to provide traditional advice on all topics.

However, a Culture and Media Institute analysis finds that Abby's advice on sexual issues frequently veers far away from traditional moral standards. Traditional morality teaches that sex should be limited to married, heterosexual couples, but Abby doesn't see it that way.

Economic hardship has been blamed for a lot of things – loss of a job, unmanageable credit card debt, home foreclosure, etc. But “CBS Evening News” has found another consequence of the bad economy that garnered national attention: a bizarre high school pregnancy “pact.”

The June 19 broadcast of “Evening News” faulted the ailing economy for 17 Massachusetts high school students agreeing to get pregnant intentionally around the same time so they could raise children together.

It takes a big man to admit he’s wrong, but as a columnist for one of the nation’s top newspapers, Paul Krugman shouldn’t have been wrong in the first place.

Krugman’s April 11 New York Times column reused a story about an Ohio woman named Trina Bachtel, whom liberal Democratic Sen. Hillary Clinton used in a speech promoting her candidacy for president.
