Did the media tell the truth about the sex ed bill Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama supported in the Illinois state Senate? Was the bill aimed at protecting kids from sexual predators, as he says? Or would it have extended "comprehensive" sex education to the kindergarten level, as GOP nominee John McCain says?

Is it possible to discuss teen birth rates without attacking abstinence-only education?

Apparently not for NBC's Chief Medical Editor Dr. Nancy Snyderman.

During a May 28 Today show discussion of high schools providing birth control to teens without parental notification, Snyderman cast doubt on abstinence-only education, saying, “I don't think there's any healthcare professional who says [abstinence education] is the magic bullet and it's really working.”

Abstinence education got the shaft yesterday in a congressional hearing and the mainstream media, unsurprisingly, have largely failed to report on it. Those that did, namely the Los Angeles Times and Reuters, carried stories that were as biased as the hearing itself.
