Tax Day is rapidly approaching and most Americans say the federal tax system “should be completely changed.”

The Pew Research Center recently conducted a poll that found a majority of Americans supported “Congress completely changing the federal tax system.” Pew announced the findings March 19, which showed 59 percent of its respondents agreed with a total overhaul of federal taxation.

Obamacare has increased the tax burden on taxpayers and companies, a fact ignored in recent broadcast news reports.

Obamacare created or hiked at least 13 taxes, Forbes reported Feb. 17. Forbes contributor and tax lawyer Robert Wood said that for the average American, “it’s easy to be overwhelmed” by all the new taxes and forms that come with Obamacare.

The public may have little use for the IRS, but CBS rose to the federal agency’s defense on Jan. 15, 2015. National Correspondent Wyatt Andrews spun against budget cuts and accused Republican’s of political “payback” for the IRS targeting scandal.

CBS “This Morning” defended the IRS against budget cuts claiming they “could have serious consequences for Americans this tax season.” These cuts were Congressional Republicans’ “payback for the targeting scandal when IRS officials investigated mostly conservative groups applying for tax exempt status,” according to CBS.

According to AAA, on Jan. 6, Alaska became the forty-ninth state in which gas prices fell below $3-a-gallon. On that day, gas dropped to an average $2.999 per gallon in Alaska, as the national average sat at $2.194 nationwide.
