Prince Harry Visits America, But ABC Proclaims the Obamas to be 'Washington's Royalty?'
Britain's Prince Harry arrived in Washington on Thursday, but ABC declared the Obamas to be "Washington's royalty." On Friday's Good Morning America, reporter Lama Hasan recounted the prince's visit to the White House and an event with Michelle Obama.
She hyped, "And then there was this: A clandestine visit with the First Lady that brought a little British glamour to Washington's royalty. " The segment then cut to a clip of the First Lady. [MP3 audio here.]
If the Obama's are "Washington's royalty," what does that make the Kennedys? On February 15, 2010, GMA's George Stephanopoulos introduced a segment on the "torrid" "love story" between adulterer John Kennedy and another woman. Stephanopoulos highlighted "the family that's been called American royalty."
A partial transcript of the May 10 segment that aired at 7:15am ET, follows:
LAMA HASAN: Harry the heartthrob is wooing women and wowing women everywhere he goes. Turns out everyone is wild about Harry in Washington. Hundreds of screaming girls giving the prince a rock star reception as he arrived on Capitol Hill. He was there to draw attention to his mother's charity. Instead, he was swarmed by adoring American fans. And then there was this: A clandestine visit with the First Lady that brought a little British glamour to Washington's royalty.
MICHELLE OBAMA: We got some surprises for you.
HASAN: Harry was Mrs. Obama's guest. Surprising military kids celebrating their moms at the White House just before Mother's Day. The First Lady joking the parents were getting a couple of minutes of free babysitting from His Royal Highness.
