"Fahrenheit 9-11" a "Most Essential Political Film"
High praise indeed. Liberal movie reviewer Manohla Dargis calls the upcoming "Fast Food Nation" (based on Eric Schlosser's book) "the most essential political film from an American director since Michael Moore's 'Fahrenheit 9/11,'" notes Victorino Matus in his Weekly Standard review (subscription required) ofanother book about food. The official website for "Fast Food Nation"prominently featuresDargis' blurb.
Dargis has defended Moore's fact-free "documentary" before, like she did two years ago in a harsh negative review of a counter-documentary: "A didactic screed that has all the verve of a PowerPoint presentation and all the subtlety of a Homeland Security red alert, 'Celsius 41.11' is finally interesting only because it represents another unconvincing effort on the part of conservatives to mount a viable critique of Mr. Moore."
