To Create a Media Culture in America Where Truth and Liberty Flourish.
Since 1987, the Media Research Center has been the nation’s premier media watchdog. We don’t endorse politicians and we don’t lobby for legislation. MRC’s sole mission is to expose and neutralize the propaganda arm of the Left: the national news media. This makes the MRC’s work unique within the conservative movement.
The Media Research Center’s unwavering commitment to neutralizing left-wing bias in the news media and popular culture has influenced how millions of Americans perceive so-called objective reporting.
Integrating cutting-edge news monitoring capabilities with a sophisticated marketing operation, MRC reaches nearly 203.6 million Americans each week to educate them about left-wing bias in the media.
The Media Research Center is a research and education organization operating under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible to the maximum extent of the law. The MRC receives no government grants or contracts nor do we have an endowment. We raise our funds each year from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
About the MRC
News Analysis Division, the "Leader in Documenting, Exposing and Neutralizing Liberal Media Bias," employs a team of expert news analysts who daily monitor all major nationally televised and print news broadcasts. The News Analysis Division publishes the daily CyberAlert e-mail report, weekly Media Reality Check reports and the every other week Notable Quotables collection of the most biased quotes from journalists — including the annual year-end "Awards for the Year's Worst Reporting" — as well as Profiles in Bias examinations of bias exhibited by influential journalists and Special Report studies. Also part of the division: The MRC's annual "DisHonors Awards" gala and the MRC's blogs, NewsBusters, "Exposing and Combating Liberal Media Bias."
MRC Business is dedicated to "Advancing the Culture of Free Enterprise in America." Formerly the Free Market Project, MRC Business is the business and economics division of the MRC and is the only organization dedicated to correcting the media's anti-free enterprise biased reports and to promoting a fair portrayal of the business community in the news and entertainment media. The Balance Sheet e-mail newsletter is packed with analysis of the top issues in the news from a free-market perspective. Each newsletter also includes essential research and thought-provoking commentary.
MRC Culture fights to preserve and help restore America’s culture, character, traditional values, and morals against the assault of the liberal media elite, and to promote fair portrayal of social conservatives and religious believers in the media. MRC Culture, the cultural division of the Media Research Center, is dedicated to correcting misconceptions in the media about social conservatism and religious faith. As the media and entertainment industry grow more aggressive in assailing people and institutions that hold traditional values, MRC Culture is drawing on MRC’s vast resources to counterpunch with a unique mix of timely facts, analyses and arguments.
CNSNews.com is an indispensable online resource for conservatives in the media, public policy and at the grassroots level. A central problem of left-wing media bias is the media’s sin of omission or outright censorship—that is, their failure to report the news that hurts the left-wing agenda. To address this problem, MRC launched CNSNews.com with the mission to report the news the liberal media refuse to cover. Under the skillful editorial stewardship of long-time conservative writer and Pulitzer Prize nominee Terry Jeffrey, CNSNews has emerged as the conservative media’s lynchpin for original reporting and breaking news. CNSNews.com distributes a daily E-Brief with the latest headlines and exclusive stories.
What Others Say About the MRC: Prominent conservatives depend on MRC’s
publications and analysis to showcase left-wing bias in the media.
Rush Limbaugh
“Liberals hate Brent
Bozell. And in this business, that’s a badge of honor. He documents their excess, their idiocy, and their bias. Congratulations to MRC on their 25th Anniversary of vigilance and excellence in shining the light of truth on the liberal media.”
Sean Hannity
“The MRC has played a key role in our culture, not just documenting and exposing liberal bias, but
helping to pave the way for the growth of an alternative media.”
Mark Levin
“Brent Bozell and the Media Research Center have been huge assets to the conservative movement over the last 25 years. The folks at the MRC fight the good fight every day, every week,
every year, and I don’t know what we’d do without them.”
Allen West
"We have to have that guardian that really does look at the objectivity of the media and what is going on so that we can tell the American people the truth... So that we can have that level playing field out there, because this fifth column that the media has become, is taking America down a very perilous road. So I want to thank the MRC and Mr. Bozell and all of you for what you are doing."
Senator Mike Lee
“For 25 years, MRC
has been holding the media accountable for left-wing bias and selective reporting. They are an important resource for the country and are making a significant impact on the debate.”
Steve Forbes
“Before the emergence of talk-radio, before Fox News, before online center-right alternative media, there was Brent Bozell. He pioneered an entire cottage industry that effectively holds the national media accountable before the public. The exponential growth of alternative media owes a lot to Brent Bozell, as his relentlessness in exposing and documenting media bias is the foundation upon which they have succeeded.”
MRCTV.org is the multimedia division of MRC featuring original content and aggregated videos of the news, people and events conservatives care about. The site features all of the Media Research Center’s television appearances, including interviews with MRC President Brent Bozell, and serves as an online platform for conservatives to share and view videos on topics ranging from breaking news to political analysis and humor. MRCTV broke news documenting vulgar behavior at Occupy Wall Street events and will continue to be at the forefront of providing original breaking-news footage, man-on-the-street interviews, and issue-oriented studio productions.
MRC Action Team is the grassroots arm of the Media Research Center. Our team directly contacts hundreds of thousands Americans each week, urging citizens to take action in neutralizing the left-wing press. We mobilize our half a million members to counter left-wing media bias with petitions, e-mail campaigns, and phone banks all demanding fair and accurate reporting in the media. The MRC Action Team participates in conservative rallies across the country spreading our message and arming citizen activists with the tools necessary to hold the press accountable.
Social Media is a powerful weapon in our arsenal to counter left-wing propaganda in the media. MRC has one of the most active Facebook and Twitter operations in the entire conservative movement, connecting and engaging with hundreds of thousands of Americans who demand that we hold the media accountable for their blatant disregard for the facts. The interactive format allows our fans to post comments, show support for our cause, and share our message with their friends. In 2012, NewsBusters became the first conservative blog to reach 1 million ‘likes’ on Facebook.
NewsBusted™ is a weekly two-minute MRCTV comedy production that conservatives love and liberals love to hate. Featuring the comedic stylings of Jodi Miller, it is loaded with her irreverent, sarcastic wit and one-liners poking fun at the loony left.
MRC Newsletters provide information and entertainment for over 400,000 subscribers who want to remain up-to-date about the latest breaking media bias news. MRC offers six electronic newsletters featuring a bi-weekly compilation of the most outrageous quotes from the liberal media, analysis of the media’s anti-business and anti-traditional values bias, a summary of mistakes and misinformation in the New York Times, and the latest scoops that liberal reporters refuse to cover.
MRC Internship Program: In 1992 the MRC founded the Youth Education and Internship Program
(YEIP) with the mission to educate and train young conservatives
in multiple disciplines. MRC interns play an integral role in helping to
advance both the mission of the MRC and the conservative cause. Upon joining
the MRC following a highly competitive selection process, interns are immersed
in the strategies and best practices of journalism, marketing, filming, and
fundraising. Working side-by-side
with our experienced staff, interns research, write articles, blog, and film.
They contribute data to Special Reports,
help develop surveys and ad campaigns, or join reporters on Capitol Hill, the
National Press Club, and other D.C. venues to dig up the latest scoop.
Job Openings: The MRC employs a team of over 60 professionals dedicated to bringing balance to the media and we are always looking for good people to join our effort by working for us. Check to see if your abilities and interests match one of our current openings.
