Herman Cain Floated as 2012 Presidential Candidate by Politics Daily

Radio host and businessman Herman Cain could be a “dark horse” 2012 GOP presidential candidate, according to Politics Daily’s Matt Lewis. Cain is also CEO and president of The New Voice, Inc. and national chairman of the Media Research Center’s Business & Media Institute. He has a long career as a business leader and speaker. He received standing ovations as a featured guest at the recent Defending the American Dream summit in Austin, Texas.

Cain, who has mounted presidential and U.S. Senate campaigns before, is “an especially potent force” thanks to his charisma and loyal supporters, according to Lewis. “Almost everyone I talked to described Cain as a man of principle and someone with strong leadership skills – desirably traits in the Oval Office, regardless of ideology.”

Cain may be a long-shot – he’s never held public office and is described by Lewis as “unconventional” – but is a “full-spectrum conservative with solid fiscal and social credentials.” The article went on to list support from Christian conservatives but  noted Cain “has solid economic credentials” and received backing from The Club for Growth during his run for U.S. Senate in 2004.
