Newly Published Bible Earning ‘Duck Dynasty’ More Liberal Hate
Well, the Robertson family continues to irk all the right people. by The Duck Dynasty stars recently partnered up with publisher Thomas Nelson to publish a “Duck Commander Faith and Family Bible” and that gave liberals another reason to hate the famous Christian family.
The Huffington Post led the usual suspects in deriding the project. After detailing news of the book, Religion writer Antonia Blumberg reminded readers of Phil Robertson’s past comments about gays and claimed that Robertson had not acknowledged “the context of the ancient period” when he quoted the Bible in his “anti-gay rants.” Because, you know, conservatives are too stupid to get nuance.
Not to be left out, left wing site “Raw Story” mocked with its headline, “Mallard be thy name: New ‘Duck Dynasty’-themed Bible coming in October” which brought up Phil Robertson’s past “controversial remarks about his disdain for LGBT sex and nostalgia for racial segregation.”
The articles reference a firestorm of criticism the Duck Dynasty clan came under back in December. In an interview with GQ Magazine, Phil Robertson was asked about homosexuality, at which Robertson reiterated his Biblical beliefs on the matter. The media freaked out over his comments and called him “backwards”, “homophobic”, a “bully”and an “old bigot” among other things.
This isn’t the first Duck Dynasty product that has been chastised by the media. MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts ranted against the family for partnering with a gun company to design and sell their own line of guns.
MSNBC has attacked the Robertsons many times before, even claiming that Phil Robertson’s statements to GQ were “part of majority white supremacist culture.”
