Overdosing Again on the Conservative Label

40 ideological labels in a 1,650-word story.

"For Conservatives, It's Back to Basics,"the Sunday Week in Review collaboration between David Kirkpatrick and Jason DeParle (the paper's once and future conservative beat reporters), reads as if eachman simply threw in as many "conservative" labels as he thought the story could carry - and none were edited out.

The word crops up as a description 26 times, plus eight more in quoted material (when a source discusses "conservatives"), as well as six references to "neoconservatives." That's 40 labels in a 1,650 word story. Isn't that a bit more than enough to get the point across?
