Still No Liberals in the Immigration Debate
The paper's standard labeling bias reigned Thursday in two stories on the struggle to revivethe faltering immigration bill. Randal Archibold's "http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/14/washington/14immig.html " target="_self">With http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/14/washington/14immig.html ">Immigration Bill Stalled, Advocates Push Forward" identified none of the supporting groups like the National Immigration Forum or the Arizona Interfaith Network as liberal.
Meanwhile, the day's lead story by Robert Pear, "Security Is Focus Of Bid to Revive Immigration Bill," contained two references to "conservative Republicans and "conservative critics." Meanwhile, ultraliberal Sen. Ten Kennedy was once again merely a "Democratic architect" of the bill, and supporters of it merely "immigrants rights' groups," not liberals.
