‘True Blood’ Creator Says Conservatives Are the Same as Vampires
When you’re producing the fifth season of a show notable mainly for bloody pornography, how do you keep viewers interest up? Evil conservatives!
That’s exactly what HBO’s filthy, sex-obsessed vampire series “True Blood” is doing for its June 10 premiere. Creator Alan Ball told TVLine.com to expect a "church and state" theme for the season.
“True Blood’s” new season features a vampire extremist group called “The Sanguinistas,” who derive their name from the Latin word for blood. Alan Ball said his inspiration for the group came from watching the "scary in their own right GOP primaries."
“My first instinct about going into religion and politics was from watching Michele Bachmann, who thinks she has a direct line to God. What would happen if she became president? A lot of right-wingers would like to see a theocracy in
This isn’t the first time lefties have slandered the GOP with the word “vampire.” In a political attack ad the Obama campaign referred to Mitt Romney as a vampire. Obviously it backfired.
Of course, if Ball is looking for more believable example of violent parasites, he might try Occupy Wall Street for inspiration.
