Film Shows Conservative Women Give Feminism More Than It Bargained For
In a culture that consistently attacks traditional values, these women refuse to sit by quietly and let morality slip through our nation's fingertips.
Citizens United's newest film, “Fire From The Heartland,” recognizes conservative women throughout history as the “backbone of this great nation.” The film features commentary from several key activists and politicians including Ann Coulter, S.E. Cupp, Dana Loesch, Phyllis Schlafly and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. The film tells the story of their struggles and victories of these “self-made American women,” how have sparked a movement and have come to be considered “[T]he unintended consequence of the liberal feminist movement.”
The film focuses on the ways that young conservative women are changing the conservative movement and redefining “politics as usual.” One area that they pinpoint as needing attention is reversing the moral compromise of traditional Christian values mobilized by the liberal media.
One commentator, S.E. Cupp, author of 'Losing Our Religion: The Liberal Media's Attack on Christianity,' explains, “The liberal media, outlets like The New York Times, MSNBC or the Washington Post are actively trying to tell you that the Judeo-Christian values that this country was founded on no longer matter. They are no longer relevant. And they're lying to you. That's a lie.”
Cupp also notes, “In a country that's 80 percent Christian, Christianity has become this sort of rebellious sub-culture because
Why all this hate for traditional Christian values? Dana Loesch, conservative radio host, observes, “It seems as though this society is trying to drum Christianity out of the culture. There's a reason for that. Because if you succeed in doing that you succeed in undermining the entire constitution of the United States. Thus you have your doorway to make men, women in America enslaved to the government.” Ann Coulter, political activist and author, agrees with Loesch. Coulter states, “People do pick up so much through the cultural influence and yet America has really resisted. And the left has got to break that down. It's got to break down the attachments to family. It's got to break down attachments to church. You must only have one attachment and that is to big brother.”
Cupp explains, “Liberalism lives in a world of moral relativism where bad behavior is easily explained and dismissed. Meat is murder but abortion is justified. Capitalism is the evil boogeyman but don't take away my private jet! Christianity is crazy except when it helps get my guy elected.” The left treats morality as a political bargaining chip and the media denounces traditional values at every opportunity.
