The New York Times' Kim Severson is reporting from Greensboro, N.C. on the campaign finance trial of former Democratic senator, presidential candidate, and vice presidential running mate John Edwards. But in keeping with Times practice when it comes to Edwards and other Democrats in legal trouble [1], Edwards's party affiliation was nowhere to be found in her Tuesday report, "Testimony by Ex-Aide Opens Edwards's Corruption Trial [2]." 
The dreaded D-word (for Democrat) was also absent from a Tuesday morning online update [3] from Severson on that morning's testimony from former campaign staffer Andrew Young. A TimesCast clip from Severson also lacked the word "Democrat."
Severson managed to mention Edwards' Democratic party membership in her two previous articles [4] on the trial. And the Times has little trouble remembering the Republican label when the shoe is on the other foot.
