Larry Wilmore, Stephen Colbert’s replacement, is fighting discrimination – with more discrimination?
During Comedy Central’s Feb. 2 “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore,” the host focused on obesity “discrimination” to ask, “Should obesity be treated as a civil rights issue?” Citing rigorous physical fitness programs, Wilmore joked that even churches show off a “CrossFit” crucified Jesus.
“It’s tough being overweight in today’s society,” he admitted. “Even if you go to church, you see a P90X version of Jesus on the cross. Talk about CrossFit.”
He snickered, “Am I right, Christian ladies?”
A second later, he joked, “Okay, I’d like to issue an apology to my Christian ladies: ‘My mockery of Jesus, though accurate, was way out of line.’”
To continue his jesting, Wilmore then showed a picture of Jesus on the cross as a plump comedian Zach Galifianakis – instead of “The Passion” star Jim Caviezel.
Comedy Central’s new late-night comedy show replaces the recently departed Stephen Colbert with Larry Wilmore, a former Daily Show correspondent. Wilmore debuted [1] his new show January 19 – by obsessing over race.
Comedy Central boasts an addiction to Christian bashing. This past Christmas, for fun, Comedy Central created [2] a “beef baby Jesus” with meat, feces and semen.
