Pity the pro-abortion crowd – they just can’t get a fair shake
from the media. Stop laughing. 
Now that a crowdfunding film [1] detailing the horrific crimes of abortionist Kermit Gosnell surpassed it’s $2 million dollar goal (with zero coverage on the broadcast networks), we’re apparently to be reminded that the mainstream media didn’t detail the horrors of “race, class and gender injustice” that let Gosnell “prey on vulnerable women” with “cheap, unsafe and illegal services.”
“Reproductive rights” activist and Yale student Alex DiBranco registered her displeasure that conservatives managed to raise the money for the Gosnell film in a blog post May 15 [2] for Political Research Associates, “a social justice think tank that studies the right-wing [3],” and cross-posted at the pro-abortion RH Reality Check [4].
DiBranco bashed filmmakers Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer as “right-wing darlings” “and asserted their movie “will most likely be anti-abortion propaganda.” DiBranco condescended that because of backing from “right-wing groups,” their pro-life stance, and their track record for “anti-environmentalist films”, “we cannot expect Kermit Gosnell: America’s Biggest Serial Killer to give time to the social justice “nuances” of the case.
What exactly are the “nuances?”
“Many liberal and progressive media outlets would agree—and have pointed out—that the mainstream media failed to cover the Gosnell trial adequately,” DiBranco wrote. “It failed to pay attention to the root systemic causes of race, class, and gender injustice that allowed him to prosper.”
Well, if they failed to list those liberal bugbears its because they tried their best to ignore the case altogether. At first the broadcast networks were too preoccupied with a bullying Rutgers basketball coach [5], then with important stories on Superman, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and internet cat memes [6] to bother with Gosnell. The Daily Beast’s Kirsten Powers finally brought pressure from the left to cover the trial, and even then reporting was sparse and desultory. In fact, ABC, CBS and NBC gave Texas State Senator Wendy Davis’ 11-hr filibuster in support of late-term abortion three times the coverage [7] they gave the 58-day Gosnell trial.
So not only is DiBranco’s assertion silly, it’s ungrateful – the media tried heroically to protect the abortion industry from fallout from Gosnell.
