Perhaps the New York Times really is moderate, at least compared to some of its readers and letter-writers. The Times found this epistle from Brown University Philosophy Professor Felicia Nimue Ackerman [1] worthy of its Sunday Business section:
While I disagree with Ben Stein's view that we need a military buildup, how refreshing to find a conservative who contends that it's necessary to raise his taxes and those of all upper-income Americans. In fact, I'll go Mr. Stein one better. He says he doesn't care for paying taxes, but I like it. It makes me feel "squared up with the U.S.A.," to quote an Irving Berlin song from 1942, "I Paid My Income Tax Today."
