The "Capture" of an Israeli Soldier by Hamas?
Was Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit "kidnapped" or merely "captured"?

Pro-Palestinian reporter Steven Erlanger "captures" the paper's anti-Israel tone well in Monday's story, "Hamas Reports Progress On Freeing Israeli Soldier."
Erlanger's story includes five references to the kidnapped Israeli soldier,Cpl. Gilad Shalit, as being "captured," as if the two sides were in a hot war and Shalit was a legitimate prisoner of war. In fact, Shalit was kidnapped when Hamas unilaterallyattacked an army post in Israel after crossing the Gaza Strip border, killing two soldiers as well.
