Krugman on "Journalists Who Hate the Clintons"

Paul Krugman fires back on Hillary-hating Obama-supporters: "As I've said, you've been played like a fiddle by journalists who hate the Clintons, and just make stuff up about how evil they are."

Wednesday's Letters to the Editor page all dealt with Paul Krugman's Monday column likening Obama supporters to a "cult of personality", accusing Obama's supporters of Nixonian venom toward Hillary Clinton. It really brought out the paper's ultra-liberal readership: The breakdown is seven letters critical of Krugman and two in support - probably as many anti-Krugman letters in one day as the paper has printed all year.

On his nytimes.com blog yesterday, Krugman issued "a final wrapup" on the matter, in which he restated his belief that journalists hate the Clintons, whileacting prickly toward his new critics on the left.

As I've said, you've been played like a fiddle by journalists who hate the Clintons, and just make stuff up about how evil they are. And while this may help Obama for now, these people are ultimately not your friends.

All my criticisms of Obama have been from a progressive direction. I don't think I've said anything that conservatives could use against him in the general election, or use to undermine his efforts if he makes it to the White House.

Krugman doesn't name any of these reporters who "hate the Clintons." For an actual researched view on the liberal media's favorable relationship with the Clintons, read "Whitewash," the new book by L Brent Bozell and Tim Graham.
