TV Cheerleader to Go for Other Team

Hayden Panettiere has come along way since her innocent role as young Sheryl Yoast in “Remember the Titans.” And apparently now she is going to go even farther.

There have been rumors, according to British newspaper the Daily Star, that Hayden Panettiere's character on the formerly popular show Heroes will at the very least engage in lesbian activity with her college roommate, possibly even becoming a full-fledged lesbian depending “on how viewers respond.”

Of course, this plot twist is nothing new or creative. Nor is the desperation to save ratings that motivated the twist. Shows that find their ratings plummeting often resort to the classic gay plotline to keep viewers. The original “90210,” “The O.C.” and “Grey's Anatomy” have been there – done that (not to mention “Ellen”).

The liberal plot twist should be fine with Panettiere, who's not exactly known for her conservative values. During the election she paired up with funnyordie.com for a few videos, including one mocking John McCain: “He's just like Bush, except older and with a worse temper.”

She recently told E!, regarding movie nudity, that while “there are just certain things that not everyone needs to know, that you need to keep somehow private and personal to you,” however, “[Y]ou never know. I could be 30 years old and just be like, 'Screw it—I want to take it all off. I better take a picture of this baby before it all goes.”

Panettiere is also widely known for her activism with the group Save the Whales Again and her connection to the group Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, whose founder, Paul Watson, views humanity as the “AIDS of the Earth” and an “invasive virus.”
