Breaking News on NBC's 'Today': Obama's Chili Recipe Sparks Online Debate
While supposedly updating viewers on important news of the day on Friday's NBC Today, fill-in news anchor Savannah Guthrie touted an Obama campaign public relations effort: "Well, just days after joining Pinterest, that online scrapbook, President Obama's catching some good-natured heat. He posted a family recipe for chili, always a topic of culinary debate." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]
Guthrie happily explained: "And some Pinterest users cannot believe the President adds red wine vinegar to his mix. And others contend he does not throw in enough spice."
It turns out the Obama campaign released the recipe in 2008, NBC is just recycling old news to pump up the President.
While Obama's cooking recipes were considered important news, NBC
failed to make any mention of the President's budget proposal failing to get a single vote in House of Representatives earlier in the week.
This kind of pro-Obama fluff comes in the same week that NBC News promoted a report,
which they freely admitted came from Democratic operatives, that
Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney was installing a car elevator during a
remodel of his California home.
