Burn Notice Builds the Drama
Now that is how
you build dramatic tension!
With only one more episode to go, I will do my best not to reveal anything too shocking in my recaps, but be warned, anything you read below could be a spoiler.
Maybe it has always been this way, but recently I've noticed a trend that shows have been starting an episode (or season) with a dramatic scene only to cut back to some time later. The show then works its way to that climax.
I don't know about you, but I hate it when shows do that. It seems like such a cheap way to generate dramatic tension. Anyone can create a dramatic scene, but to be able to slowly build to a good climax scene by scene is truly impressive.
And not only did this episode build the tension scene by scene, they also slathered on the conflict like gravy on a biscuit. From a fist fight amongst friends to competing love interests, the characters of Burn Notice are at each other's throats and we as the audience are getting pulled in our rooting affections.
I mean, I want Michael to come out as a good guy, but I also want him and Sonya to end up together. Can Michael and his buddies remain friends? Do they all survive? All will be revealed (I'm assuming) in the finale next week, and I wouldn't have it done any other way.
