Community: Return of the Ass Crack Bandit

Big things happening in Greendale, boys and girls. Ben Folds made a guest appearance last night!!!! WAHOOOOO!!!!

But seriously, the Human Beings at Greendale have returned to our Thursday night tv sets with their twisted, witty humor. Having watched all three episodes, they aren't back to their form from seasons 1 and 2, but this season has been far superior to the Dan Harmon-less slop from last season.

Can Community return to top form?

From the bottom of my heart, I hope Community changes back to its cheeky form. A form that isn't afraid to give no quarter. I don't know if they will burst  my bubble, but if their willing to take a crack at it, I'll be sure to drag my ass back in front of the tv for more Community.

And now, let's get to the big things that took place in last night's episode (unless you consider a Ben Folds cameo a big deal; in which case...)

So with an assist from birthday boy Dave, let's go to it.

"We flew to the stars and back" ~  Gaucho

Starburns fans of the world rejoice. Harmon has resurrected everyone's favorite druggie at Greendale. And of course Starburns would return in a cat sled. You're just jealous you didn't think of it first. When he saves mankind from global warming (or whatever the hell it's called during a polar vortex) with his cat sled idea, then you'll realize you should've done more than just believe if you really wanted to see the world change.

"No matter how fast we are running, somehow we keep up with each other." ~  I'll Back You Up

Jeff and Annie's first kiss in season 1 feels like a lifetime ago. (It's probably more like two life times by community college standards.) But no matter how much they change, the show can't get away from the will they/won't they dynamic. After this episode, I have a feeling this will be a constant theme for this season between Annie and Jeff.

"I will go in this way and find my own way out." ~ #41

I'd be remiss if I didn't throw in a good (though perhaps it should be a racist or sexist) word to eulogize Pierce Hawthorn. We all knew the drama between him and the show's baby mama, but Pierce is officially dead. 14 years at Greendale and still trying to become a Human Being. Always on the outside of the group looking in (many times by his own follies), Pierce just wanted to fit into a changing world that had passed him by. An inglorious, off-screen exit for an actor who felt the show didn't respect him seems a fitting parting for Pierce Hawthorn. (Either that, or death by a gay, black, woman.) RIP, Pierce.
