Silver Linings
Dammit!
I never start writing a post before the show ends. I know plenty of bloggers who can write before an event ends. Nothing wrong with that approach; it just isn't my style.
Of course, the one time that I break from convention, I get screwed. I had a nice little structured generic topic for a post all ready to go. It was perfect. Until it wasn't. Until the last five minutes of the episode. Now, I actually have to touch on stuff actually in the episode.
Ugh.
Silver linings: the last five minutes sets the stage for a dynamic next couple of weeks. This, if I may state the obvious, is a really, really good thing. Before you accuse me of being the next John Madden, allow me to explain. I don't mean that it's good that next week's episode should be dynamic. Rather, I mean that it was crucial that the last five minutes of this episode was good, because otherwise it was pretty forgettable. And that's a shame, because this episode had so much potential.
I love the idea of the judge myth throughout history. Hopefully, that's at least close to factually true, but I'm not paid enough to research it, so na na boo boo stick your head in doo doo. Personally, I was a little disappointed that they didn't explore the comic book angle of this. Heck, there is even a DC Comics character called The Vigilante.
Instead, what we got was the tried and true gruel of the US as the bad guys. At least we got some spice added to the recipe that the US actually had the right guy, even if they went about it all wrong.
